Your personal coach
Hi, my name is Harriette . I was born in the Netherlands where I was educated and worked for a while. 20 Years ago I moved to Aruba where I live with my husband and 3 children.
When I graduated in business econometrics I worked for years as a statistical analist, information analist and a management information consultant, first in the Netherlands and later in Aruba. For big and small companies and afterwards in my own company I have analysed all kinds of numbers and systems and trained lots of people to use their information systems better in order to make their work easier.
In my free time I trained my horses according to the ways of natural horsemanship, which is based on mutual trust and cooperation without fear, force or suppression. I found that I used this approach more and more in my work when dealing with people in stressful situations. The positive effects of this quiet , patient and consistent way of treating others were very clear.
In earlier years my horses and I have had a lot of interaction with all kinds of special needs children helping them to find more balance in their lives. The setup of a foundation for therapeutic riding for special needs children was part of this process. After a while the foundation move to a location with more possibilities to grow. It is still very active.
In July 2014 I successfully completed the training program for Cognitive Coaching with Horses called "Leef je Droom" at the dutch Center for Coaching with Horses (Centrum voor Paardencoaching) in order to focus on coaching people with the help of my horses. In this new profession I combine my newly learned coaching skills with my experience in training people, my analytical skills and my ability to read body language of both horses and people. In cooperation with my horses I want to help people to do their job and live their life in the best possible way. In 2015 I completed additional training to coach a personal empowerment program for people who need to find mental and emotional balance in their lives. The effects of an extended program with the horses have been amazing to some very satisfied clients.
Besides the fulfillment of helping people feel stronger and more balanced, what I love about coaching with horses is the quietness. This quietness allows for relaxation and reflection. First, the horses are always in the present, with no worries about the past or the future. In order to make meaningful contact with a horse, both the client and me also need to focus on being in the present, by being aware of our breathing and body language.
Second, the quiet, natural surroundings of the coaching location in the Aruban countryside make any session feel a bit like a small vacation ....
