What is personal coaching?
Personal coaching is assisting people in developing their qualities to grow and be able to cope with whatever happens in their lives.
Your coach will ask questions to help you become aware of the way you are handling yourself with issues at hand and what you can do to change or improve the effects. A coach will refrain from giving instructions on how to do handle yourself. Your coaching will focus on helping you discover new ways to connect and grow, to deal with upcoming problems and be more effective in your daily life.
Coaching is not therapy. Therapy focuses on the treatment to uncover or recover from traumas, addictions, disorders or other psychological problems. Specific instructions may be a part of the treatment.
If you know what your current difficulties and roadblocks are and would like to get a grip on the effect they have on you, now and in the future, without delving deep into family history, coaching is the way for you to go.
If you would like to grow and improve the way you handle things, finding the connection to your values, your instincts and your qualities will help you to become more confident in your life, your relationships or your work.
In connection we grow, in confidence and emotional balance. This is the value of the connection with your coach.
What is coaching with horses?
Coaching with horses is a unique and practical way of personal coaching with the added value of experience- based learning with horses.
Horse are herd animals by nature. The livelihood and safety of the herd is determined by the strength of their connections. As a consequence they will always look for a way to connect in a way that will increase the strength of the group. In the connection with the horse, you can find how to grow your confidence.
Trial and error
When you interact with one of our horses, the horse responds instinctively and reflects what it sees. It will show you what the effect is of the way you handle yourself and the horse. So if you try something and the effect is not as you imagined, look for a different way and try again. The only but valuable consequence is in your learning process.
Effectively changing how you handle things needs practice, so sometimes you need to repeat it to get used to it.
Horses live in the here and now. They respond only to what is near them in the present. So even if you already tried something with a horse, you can do this several times in one session, to try what works best or to improve further.
Horses are flight animals. A speedy reaction is essential for their safety. They will respond right away to what is presented to them at that moment.
When you are interacting with a horse, it will show the effect of your actions right away, without giving an opinion or judgment. This immediate feedback has the effect of looking into a mirror. The coach will help you to relate this feedback to your situation.
